Collecting and paying Tax for parcels held by Custom Department
- the process

This is the first time that i have to go to the Pos Laju hub when my order by ebay from Japan worth rm700.00++ being held for tax and you have to personally to collect and pay it. As we might know that all electronic equipments are tax free in Malaysia so the case had made me wonder why and what is the tax actually is. It came out as Sales Tax. I just paid the amount as it so happened almost equal to postage or i would just abandon the parcel to be returned and get the refund (wondering why a lot of parcels opened and yet not collected). So, either you lost about rm50 for the postage or pay the tax which is an equal spending.

1. Location
- KLIA Pos Laju Hub, nearby Tune Hotel

2. Park outside where the parking marked BUS. I supposed you could park inside their compound.

3. Was there on 27/1/16 around 3.00 pm.

4. First you report to SECURITY post to write name and surrender an ID..a number SECURITY pass will be issued..remember the pass no series after writing them in the log book..there would be few other passes at the collection window counter when it could be mixed up.

5. walk to your right to enter enter the main door..upon entry open another door and go straight through a long corridor. I saw a few counters and sort of dark areas but you go right up and go right to Counter 1 where there is that pos malaysia counter to check your notice letter indicating the parcel no. You have to fill BAHAGIAN D.

6. Then go to counter 2 at farther left (a bit hidden while passing in-front of counter 3). You need to surrender your IC and the SECURITY CARD where you have to sign a log book. Your parcel will be released through a window with conveyer belt..after that your IC will be returned but your SECURITY card will be held for a while.

7. Take your parcel and bring it to counter 3 where the custom will check the item and the declaration paper by seller/exporter to ensure the price is similar or if lower then tell them accordingly..you had to wait for few minutes while the officer in a room worked out the duty whatever you call it..after the amount is invoiced.

8. Go to counter 4, the CASHIER where you pay the duty as stated..the counter is right next to counter 1 just now..

9. After you made the payment then you bring the receipt back to counter 2 to be chopped, only then you get the SECURITY card back.

10. You could use the exit next to counter 2 and out to the SECURITY post when they write your parcel no next to your name in the guest register and returned your driving license.

11. please note that there are proper 5S signage and clear flow shown on the walls or overhead.

HOPE THIS HELPS..
