DIY colour film

processing roller

1. It was a replacement christmas holiday on 26th December 2016 good for a DIY project.

2. Started to work on it from around 2.00 pm and finished around 6.00.

3. The metal roller was bought earlier in the morning which were the smallest size but made of metal not plastic which could be slippery to roll the development canister.

4. It was a rotating roller type when i could not find the fixed type which found to be bigger even-though they were made of pvc.

5. The size is to be as small as possible to ensure that the development canister is be able to reach the water level in the JOBO hot water tub.

5. The timber pieces was abundance in the studio/workshop.

6. Each of the roller was fixed with screw and two of them were hold in-place by two nail to compensate the height for neck of the canister which is smaller compare to the body.

6. The other two rollers were faced outward and free to move.

7. Both pairs were then fixed to two pieces of timber plate as base which were spaced apart to allow it to sit flat not obstructing a raised bump within the tub

7. A package-wrap type string were rounded within the body of the canister to be able for a rolling motion.

8. A piece of metal L-angle was screw-fixed at one end to stop the canister from sliding out.

9. The marble in the container was used to hold the base while rolling.

10. This method is less tiring than pulling up and down the string attached to the holding cloth canister.

11. Next one is how to mechanise the rolling using the existing motor which was able to rotate freely in one direction only but seemed slow and sticky the other way.
